National Career Readiness Certificate
The NCRC
The National Career Readiness Certificate is being implemented throughout Oregon as an employee credentialing system that measures foundational job skills and supports skill building for career success. The certificate is awarded after applicants complete an assessment of skills in the areas of applied mathematics, reading for information, and locating information.
The NCRC is awarded at 4 levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum based on the applicant's performance on the WorkKeys assessment. The cost of the WorkKeys assessment and NCRC are free resources that are funded by the Workforce Investment Act and American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The State Board of Education has approved the NCRC at a Gold level as an alternative assesment method for demonstrating some of the Essential Skills required for a high school diploma.
WIN Courseware
Oregon has also made the Worldwide Interactive Network (WIN) course available to support and improve applicant's skills and performance on the WorkKeys assessment. The WIN courseware helps participants develop skills in applied math, reading, and locating information. It also has supportive functions that allow students to explore careers, learn from contextual examples, etc. Learn more about the WIN Curriculum.
CRC Implementation
The Oregon Department of Community Colleges and Workforce Development has awarded grants to Community Colleges and Local Workforce Investment Boards to implement the NCRC and WIN curriculum in their institutions. View a summary of the implementation projects throughout Oregon
